About Susan Simon, Owner of Harmony
Pilates Studio
I began my career as a dancer with a deep appreciation of classical
and contemporary dance. After moving to California and having my
second child, I suffered significant pain in my low back from a
bulging disc. Given my familiarity with Pilates and its focus on
core stabilization, I trained my way to complete recovery and became
a fully certified Pilates Mat and Equipment Instructor through the
prestigious PhysicalMind
Institute®.
I continue with self-practice and enjoy staying up to date on the
latest innovations in The Method Pilates because I believe the greatest
teachers never stop learning. My credentials and accomplishments
include a 1992 Bachelor of Arts in Dance from Point Park College,
2001 Mat/Equipment Certification from the PhysicalMind Institute®,
2006 PMA Certification, and 5 years experience as a Pilates Personal
Instructor in California.
My own personal experience includes 32 years of dance, body and
health awareness, and physical conditioning knowledge. My method
of teaching has been described by my peers and my clients as knowledgeable,
caring, patient and experienced. I look forward to working together
with you on your journey. Whether you desire to become more fit,
pain free, or are just looking for an exploration of self, the flexibility
of Pilates will enable us to design a program that is just right
for you.

About Liz Carlton, Power Pilates Certified Instructor
Liz is certified in Pilates mat and apparatus through Power Pilates, which teaches the classical exercises and techniques as developed by Joseph Pilates.
Liz completed the 600 hour comprehensive training program at Body Endeavors in Chicago where she then worked as an instructor until returning to North Carolina in Fall 2007. She has also earned a B.F.A. in dance and minor in technical theater from UNCG and is a NASM certified personal trainer. She has established herself at other studios in the past and comes to us with high accolades from her clients and peers back in Chicago.
Liz danced professionally in Chicago with The Dance COLEctive and is now choreographing her own dances as well as dancing for other local artists in NC.
Her concern for putting the client's needs first, her attention to detail, and her personal and profession awareness of body movement are in direct line with the mission of Harmony Pilates Studio.
